Jill Abramson, a New York Times investigative reporter, will become the first woman executive editor of the newspaper in its 160-year history.
The NYT identified the missing journalists as Anthony Shadid, the Beirut bureau chief and twice winner of the Pulitzer Prize for foreign reporting; Stephen Farrell, a reporter and videographer who was kidnapped by Taliban in 2009, and two photographers, Tyler Hicks and Lynsey Addario, who have worked extensively in the Middle East and Africa

"We pay for a majority or the biggest portion of their money. They actually criticised and disagreed with my travel ban at the time I did it. They were wrong. They've been wrong about a lot of things. They had a lot of information early and they didn't want to -- they're very -- they seem to be very China centric," the US president charged during his news conference.
